Economists have big concerns about competition law 'effects test' proposal

Former head of the competition watchdog and Monash University Business and Economics Faculty Professor, Graeme Samuel, and Frontier Economics chairman, Philip Williams tell Lucy Barbour why they don't agree with calls for the introduction of an 'effects test' provision in competition law. The National Farmers' Federation has called for a 'hybrid' effects test in its submission to the Government's Competition Policy Review. The NFF's general policy manager, Tony Maher, says it would be a step towards creating a more transparent and balanced supply chain and fairer marketplace. Read more.
